But this putting words out there on the off chance of someone reading - I'd much rather be writing or recording music, and posting *that.* It's not far off from the reason I haven't done any major upgrading of my musical equipment in years: I don't want to spend all my time engineering, I want to be making music. How there was just the one vinyl disc, and nobody knew anything about the guys who recorded it - couldn't even tell, really, whether the band was named Pavement, or if the EP was named Pavement, or what. And it was magical, and people went out and looked for the records and tried to learn The Whole Story and tried to find the way "in."<br /><br />That sort of information is pretty ubiquitous nowadays, isn't it? If you're looking for it, that is. Like they said in the movie, "No More Secrets." Except there are secrets, but they're a little - no, a lot- cheaper. With a shorter shelf life, and ironically, shorter reach. So it seems.<br /><br />I wonder if it's more sensible, nowadays, to leave the door open, and the safe unlocked.
